Suspect arrested with 80 kg of Kerala Cannabis in Kankasanthurai

Oct 25, Colombo: Sri Lanka Police have arrested a suspect transporting nearly 80 kilograms of Kerala Ganja (Kerala Cannabis) in Kankasanthurai, Jaffna.

Two officers of the Traffic Division of Kankasanthurai Police have stopped a car heading towards Jaffna near the 14th mile post on the Jaffna-Kankasanthurai road at around 5:00 pm on Thursday and inspected the vehicle.

Upon inspection of the vehicle, the police officers found a suspect transporting 78.305 kilograms of Kerala Cannabis.

The Police believe that the cannabis stock estimated to be worth about Rs. 10 million has been brought from South India by boasts.

The arrested suspect is identified as Thirunavukarasu Suthakaran, a 35-year-old resident of Akkarayankulam in Kilinochchi.

The suspect will be produced before the Mallakam Magistrate Court today. Kankasanthurai Police are conducting further investigations.
